Melbourne is a very fascinating city. You have the beach, kayaking on the Indian River, golf course, public tennis courts, bike routes, etc. It is also easy to get to if you fly into the Orlando/Sanford airport. We took the direct, nonstop flight from Huntington on Allegiant and then it is about a 1.5 hour drive southeast from there. By the time our plane took off, you can be at the beach in less than 4 hours! One thing about Melbourne is that you do not have to get all dressed up for a day or night out in Melbourne, because it is a very casual beach town.
First off, when I go out of town, I LOVE to eat out. One of the places that we ate at was Bunky's Raw Bar and Seafood Grill. We got the seafood tower and it was excellent. It had shrimp, lobster, crab, oysters, etc. It was large enough that my grandad, mom, dad, and sister shared it. Another restaurant that we ate at was Squid Lips and their fish dip is amazing. Another great place to eat is New England Eatery. You can eat inside or outside and we chose outside. They have great key lime pie.
If you enjoy learning about sea life then you should check out Barrier Island Sanctuary. It is a sea turtle preservation and education center. If you are into history, then you should definitely check out Mel Fisher's Treasures Museum. It's a great place to go if you want to learn about Melbourne's past history. My sister is an active tennis player and Melbourne has many public tennis courts to play her favorite hobby. With the weather always sunny, she was able to play every day the entire week.
Melbourne is the best place to go if you want a low key get away. They have great low profile beaches. Overall, Melbourne is an amazing city and I hope you have a great time.
Awesome! You are doing so well.😊
